Persona 5 mobile game Phantom of the Night revealed for iOS, Android

A brand-new game that is set within the Persona 5 universe has been announced: Persona 5: Phantom of the NightP5X). The game was created in collaboration with Black Wings Game Studio and released through the Chinese company, Perfect World Games, the game will be overseen by P-Studio which is the Sega and Atlus-owned team of developers that developed Persona. Persona 5: Phantom of the Night will be a no-cost mobile game that includes in-app purchases.

There is no release date set or confirmed, and the possibility of a Western release hasn’t been confirmed. But, the beta test of the software for Chinese markets will begin on 29 March 2023.

Similar to the game it’s inspired by, it will take place in present-day Tokyo as seen in Persona 5, and will focus on a brand new set of main characters. They comprise Phantom Thieves teens who pledge to snatch the hearts of adult corrupt people to build an equitable society.

The characters that have been shown in the first episode include a teenage boy with red hair (designed by the series’ artist Shigenori Soejima), and his owl-speaking companion which plays a role similar to Morgana from Persona 5 as well as the capacity to transform into the form of a vehicle. The owl’s summons to persona seems to be the mecha version of it.

The human characters include one girl with short hair who wears the Bruce Lee-inspired yellow and black Phantom Thieves uniform (clearly echoing Chie from Persona 4) and a long-haired woman wearing a classy white dress. The recurring setting in The Velvet Room returns, with Igor as well as his new assistant.

Like in the whole series Personagames, the trailer shows the main character balancing the roles as a high school student while pursuing his second life. Social activities are shown in action, including working at a fast-food restaurant that is casual or fishing as well as engaging in a batting net. This trailer for gameplay shows the turn-based battle and dungeon-crawling action. A lot of this has a resemblance to game titles like Persona five-game.
